On-Site Calibration

On-Site Audiometer Calibration Near Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne sits roughly two and a half hours from Blue Ash. That is close enough for a day trip, so we bring the equipment, calibrate to ANSI S3.6, and measure the booth to ANSI S3.1 in one visit.

A day trip from Blue Ash

The technician leaves 6941 Cornell Road, Suite B, Blue Ash, Ohio 45242 and heads northwest for about two and a half hours. That range is short enough that Fort Wayne can be a single day with time left at your site. We confirm the date by phone and arrive ready to work at the instrument.

To book, call 513-891-0868.

Because the stops in northeast Indiana are fairly close together, we can often fit two or three sites into one day when employers coordinate.

What keeps northeast Indiana loud

Heavy truck and vehicle assembly around Roanoke and Fort Wayne drives a long chain of parts plants. Defense electronics and aerospace machine shops operate alongside them, and the recreational vehicle supply chain reaches in from the north with cabinetry, metal framing, and fiberglass operations. Plastics, orthopedic device makers in the Warsaw area, and food processors fill out the map.

A mix like that produces a wide range of noise exposure, from continuous machinery to impact sounds, and a hearing conservation program covering any of it depends on a trustworthy audiometer.

Meeting ANSI S3.6

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95(h) names ANSI S3.6 as the audiometer specification. Compliance-driven programs in northeast Indiana rely on documented calibration of the instrument.

  • Annual acoustic calibration check.
  • Exhaustive calibration at least every two years.
  • Employer daily functional check before use.

Checking the booth while we are there

We measure the sound levels inside the booth or quiet room to ANSI S3.1. The findings go on the audiometer certificate as the Room Acoustics Level Test section, so one document shows the state of both the instrument and the room.

Plant clinics near production floors are the usual trouble spots. A forklift aisle or an air compressor on the other side of a wall can raise the background level enough to affect low-level thresholds. Knowing the booth number tells your program whether the room is still suitable for testing.

Allen County and neighboring counties

Our Fort Wayne route covers Allen, DeKalb, Whitley, Kosciusko, Huntington, Wells, Adams, and Noble counties. Typical stops include New Haven, Huntertown, Auburn, Warsaw, Decatur, Huntington, Columbia City, Angola, Bluffton, Garrett, Kendallville, and Roanoke. Because the stops are close together, several employers can often share a single day. Auburn and Kendallville sit on the same northern corridor, while Bluffton and Decatur are a short drive south, so a route can be built around where your neighbors need us.

Equipment that can ride along

If your occupational health room holds other instruments, we can handle those as well.

  • Spirometers and the 3 L syringes that verify them.
  • Breath alcohol testers. We calibrate them and train technicians only. Foster does not sell or perform drug or alcohol testing.
  • Vision testers.
  • EKG machines.

Pairing with a hearing testing visit

Employers who schedule mobile hearing testing can calibrate the audiometer on the morning of the clinic. Our hearing testing page explains the service.

That arrangement means every audiogram taken that day comes from an instrument verified within hours, which simplifies the story if a result is ever questioned.

Mail-in as an alternative

You can also ship the audiometer to our Cincinnati-area bench. A free loaner is available when a unit needs a long repair, so your program does not pause.

Common questions

Is a Fort Wayne visit practical for one audiometer?

Yes. It is close enough that a one-unit visit works, especially if neighbors book the same day.

Do you cover Warsaw and the orthopedic device cluster?

Yes. Warsaw and Kosciusko County are on our route.

Which standard governs the instrument?

ANSI S3.6, tied to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95(h).

What does the booth measurement cover?

Sound levels inside the booth to ANSI S3.1, shown as the Room Acoustics Level Test section on the certificate.

Can you calibrate other clinic instruments the same day?

Yes. Spirometers, 3 L syringes, breath alcohol testers, vision testers, and EKG machines can be done on the same trip.

Do you offer a loaner?

Yes. A free loaner covers extensive repairs.
