On-Site Calibration
Audiometer Calibration in Louisville, Kentucky: We Come to You
From our Blue Ash base we serve Louisville employers with on-site audiometer calibration to ANSI S3.6. The booth gets measured to ANSI S3.1 on the same visit, and other occupational health instruments can ride along.
Louisville industry and its audiometers
Louisville is a heavy manufacturing and logistics city. Automotive assembly at two Ford plants, appliance manufacturing at a large east side campus, the overnight air freight operation at the airport, and a deep bench of bourbon distilleries and bottling lines all put workers around sustained noise. Programs in those settings need audiometers whose calibration is current and documented.
Distilleries and bottling facilities are a good example of a quieter-looking site with real exposure, where glass lines and conveyors add up over a shift.
Warehouse and package handling work is another large group. Sorting lines, forklifts, and conveyor motors keep noise steady for long shifts, and the employers who run them often manage several sites with one safety coordinator. We can calibrate the audiometers at each site on one scheduled visit.
A short list of what we do on site
Every Louisville visit follows the same outline.
- Calibrate each audiometer to ANSI S3.6, including output levels, frequency, distortion, and attenuator linearity.
- Measure booth or quiet room sound levels to ANSI S3.1.
- Record the booth result as the Room Acoustics Level Test section on the audiometer certificate.
- Hand you the certificate and set a reminder for the next due date.
Why the standard sets annual and two-year intervals
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95(h) requires audiometers to meet ANSI S3.6 and be checked at set intervals. An acoustic calibration check is due at least annually. A deviation of 15 dB or more at that check calls for an exhaustive calibration, and an exhaustive calibration is due at least every two years in any case. The employer performs the daily functional check before use. Records of all of it are what an inspector will ask to see, so a calibration that has quietly lapsed puts every audiogram taken since the due date in question. We track due dates for you and send a reminder ahead of the next one.

Crossing the river and covering the region
We schedule across Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Bullitt, Hardin, Nelson, and Spencer counties in Kentucky, plus Clark and Floyd counties in southern Indiana. Examples include Jeffersontown, St. Matthews, Shively, Shelbyville, La Grange, Simpsonville, Shepherdsville, Elizabethtown, Bardstown, Jeffersonville, Clarksville, and New Albany.
The rest of your instruments
Because the technician travels from our shop at 6941 Cornell Road, Suite B, Blue Ash, Ohio 45242, it helps to clear as many due dates as possible in one trip. Beyond audiometers we can calibrate spirometers and 3 L syringes, vision testers, and EKG machines. We also calibrate breath alcohol testers and train technicians. Foster does not sell or perform drug or alcohol testing.
Setting a date
Call 513-891-0868 or use the scheduling page. Jeff Schroeder is the technician and will confirm the visit directly. If you have mobile hearing testing planned, we can calibrate the same morning. Our Louisville hearing testing page explains how those clinics work. Bringing calibration and testing together also saves your people from scheduling around two separate vendor visits.
When mail-in makes more sense
A single unit that moves between sites may be easier to ship to our Cincinnati-area bench. A free loaner is available if repairs run long, and the certificate you receive is calibrated to ANSI S3.6 either way.
Common questions
Do you serve southern Indiana from the Louisville page?
Yes. Clark and Floyd counties, including Jeffersonville, Clarksville, and New Albany, are part of the same service area.
What does an audiometer calibration actually measure?
Output levels at each test frequency, frequency accuracy, distortion, attenuator linearity, and where the unit has it, bone conduction and masking.
Is the booth check a separate service?
It happens during the same visit. Results appear in the Room Acoustics Level Test section of the audiometer certificate.
Who performs the daily functional check?
Your staff does, before each day's use. We cover the annual acoustic check and the exhaustive calibration.
Can you calibrate audiometers I did not buy from Foster?
Yes. We calibrate most major brands.
What if my unit needs extensive repair?
You can borrow a free loaner from Foster while the repair is done.
