On-Site Calibration
Audiometer Calibration for Dayton Employers, Done On Site
Dayton is a straight run up I-75 from our Blue Ash base. We bring the reference equipment to your building, calibrate your audiometers to ANSI S3.6, and measure the booth to ANSI S3.1 before we leave.
How a Dayton visit works
The technician leaves our shop at 6941 Cornell Road, Suite B, Blue Ash, Ohio 45242, with the calibration equipment packed and ready. You get a call to confirm timing, and the work happens at your site, at the instrument. Jeff Schroeder is the technician on every visit, and the same office line, 513-891-0868, reaches him.
A single portable audiometer takes a short visit. A room of booth audiometers across several departments takes longer, but it is still one trip.
Who we calibrate for in the Dayton region
The Dayton economy is built on precision work. Contractors supporting the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base community, tool and die shops, stamping and fabrication plants, and glass manufacturing in Moraine all keep workers in hearing conservation programs. Each one needs an audiometer that can be defended when someone reviews the records.
We calibrate for employers, clinics, and schools alike. If you run a hearing conservation program of any size anywhere in the Miami Valley, you are the customer this page is written for. Smaller employers with a single portable audiometer are welcome, and so are programs with a dozen units spread across departments.
What 1910.95 expects from the instrument
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95(h) ties audiometric testing to audiometers that meet ANSI S3.6. The standard works in layers, and you will want to know which layer is whose.
- Daily: your staff listens to the audiometer and tests a person with stable known thresholds. This is the employer's check.
- Annually: an acoustic calibration check. Our visit covers this.
- Every two years: an exhaustive calibration. We perform this as well.

Booth levels, measured while we are there
Ambient noise in a booth can drift as ventilation ages or seals wear. We measure sound levels inside the booth to ANSI S3.1 on the same visit. The findings print as the Room Acoustics Level Test section on the audiometer certificate, so you keep one record for the instrument and the room.
Spirometers, testers, and more in one stop
Calibration dates for different instruments rarely line up. A single trip can clear several of them.
- Spirometers and the 3 L syringes used to check them.
- Breath alcohol testers. We calibrate them and train technicians. Foster does not sell or perform drug or alcohol testing.
- Vision testers.
- EKG machines.
Dayton-area towns on our route
We schedule regularly in Montgomery, Greene, Miami, Clark, Shelby, and Warren counties. Typical stops include Kettering, Moraine, Miamisburg, Springboro, Huber Heights, Vandalia, Beavercreek, Fairborn, Troy, Middletown, and Franklin. Another location in the Miami Valley is usually workable, so ask. Most Dayton jobs can be planned as a morning or afternoon visit and combined with other stops in the area when the schedule allows.
Booking it with hearing testing
If you also use mobile hearing testing, we can calibrate the audiometer on the morning of a testing clinic so every audiogram that day comes from a freshly verified instrument. See our Dayton hearing testing page for how those clinics run.
If you would rather ship it
Mail-in calibration to our Cincinnati-area bench is always available. A free loaner covers you if your audiometer needs a long repair. Either way, the certificate is calibrated to ANSI S3.6 and a reminder goes out before the next due date.
Common questions
Is on-site calibration available for a single audiometer in Dayton?
Yes. A one-unit visit is routine. Larger fleets simply make the trip more efficient per unit.
Who is responsible for the daily functional check?
You are. OSHA expects the employer to check the audiometer before each day's use. We handle the annual acoustic check and the exhaustive calibration.
Do you only calibrate audiometers you sold?
No. We calibrate most major brands whether or not you bought from us.
What does the booth check cover?
Sound levels inside the booth measured to ANSI S3.1, reported on your certificate as the Room Acoustics Level Test section.
Can you service the other equipment in my occupational health room?
Yes. Spirometers, 3 L syringes, breath alcohol testers, vision testers, and EKG machines can be calibrated on the same trip.
What happens if the audiometer fails and has to leave the building?
We lend you a free loaner during extensive repairs so your testing continues.
