Mobile OSHA Hearing Testing in Dayton, OH
On-site audiograms for Dayton, OH employers. CAOHC-certified technicians test at your plant, a same-day trip up I-75 from Blue Ash.
Foster Special Instruments tests employee hearing on site at Dayton-area plants, shops, and public works facilities. The company is family-run, has served Ohio employers since 1946, and operates from Blue Ash on the north side of Cincinnati. A Dayton job runs as a same-day trip, about 45 miles and 50 minutes up I-75, so the technician arrives, tests, and heads home without an overnight stay.
More than 40 employers across the Dayton metro already keep accounts with Foster. They sit in Montgomery, Greene, Miami, Clark, Shelby, Darke, and northern Warren counties, from Dayton and Kettering to Troy, Sidney, Greenville, Springfield, and Middletown.
Hearing Testing for the Dayton Industrial Base
The Dayton region has a dense mix of noisy work. Aerospace and defense suppliers around Wright-Patterson run machining and test operations. Automotive glass and parts plants in Moraine and along I-75 operate forming and assembly lines. Engine and powertrain plants north of Dayton, near Sidney, run high-volume machining across several shifts. Metal stamping and fabrication shops, distribution centers, and municipal public works and water departments complete the picture. Some hospital occupational health programs also outsource their plant testing, and Foster works as the testing arm behind them.
OSHA 1910.95 requires a hearing conservation program when employee noise exposure reaches an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 dBA. Covered employees need a baseline audiogram and a follow-up audiogram every year. Foster's role is to make that cycle predictable for the plant and easy to defend in an inspection.
How a Dayton Testing Day Works
We test in our mobile unit or in a quiet room you provide. A room works when its background noise meets the ANSI S3.1 limits for audiometric testing. CAOHC-certified technicians run the session from start to finish, and they schedule employees in small groups so the production line keeps moving.
Plants with several shifts do not have to pull people in on their days off. Testing can follow your shift pattern, including third shift, so each employee is tested during a normal workday.
What You Receive
- Baseline and annual audiograms for every covered employee
- Standard threshold shift analysis that compares each result to the employee's baseline
- OSHA 300 recordability support when a shift is confirmed
- Audiologist review of the results
- A complete 1910.95 record set, ready to hand to an inspector
Add-ons on the Same Visit
Foster also calibrates the instruments used in hearing conservation, so one trip can cover more than audiograms. If your plant tests in house, we can calibrate the audiometer and the booth on the same visit. We can also manage the whole hearing conservation program for plants that want a single point of contact, and we calibrate noise survey instruments. See calibration services for details.

Dayton Hearing Testing FAQ
How far ahead should we schedule a Dayton testing day?
Send your headcount, shift pattern, and preferred window with a quote request. We confirm dates after reviewing it, and earlier requests have more dates to choose from. Plants that test every year can hold a recurring window.
Can you test third shift?
Yes. Testing can cover first, second, and third shift in the same visit or across several visits. Tell us the shift pattern when you request the quote.
What does the plant need to provide for the mobile unit?
A level parking spot and a 110V outlet. If you have no good spot for the unit, a quiet room that meets ANSI S3.1 background noise limits works instead.
How do results arrive?
Audiograms and the standard threshold shift analysis are delivered electronically after the audiologist review. We give you the expected delivery date when the visit is booked.
Can Foster calibrate our own audiometer the same day?
Yes. We can calibrate the plant's audiometer during the testing visit. Give us the make and model when you schedule so the right equipment comes along.
