What’s in the course
The complete BAT Technician course: alcohol testing fundamentals, the testing procedure step by step, handling refusals and problem tests, instrument-specific operation and calibration checks, a written exam, and monitored proficiency mocks on your device. Which training your people need
Tracks and casinos pay Foster’s standard training prices — the same as every other customer, with no racing surcharge or racing-specific tier.
- New to breath testing — the BAT Technician course, $465. The full qualification. Your instrument’s module is included at no extra charge.
- Already a qualified BAT, adding a device — the Device Practicum, $290 per instrument. Say your track runs an Intoxilyzer 900 and an AlcoBlow: they submit their BAT certificate number or evidence of completing the BAT course within the last five years, then take the instrument-only practicum for each device.
- Qualification nearing five years — the BAT Refresher, $335. Renews the credential before it lapses.
- Training your own people in-house — Instructor/Trainer, $865. Certifies your lead to qualify future technicians on site.
A note on racing commission rules
Track-side testing runs under your state racing commission’s rules, not DOT. We are DOT instructors, so the training we provide is the full DOT BAT curriculum — the industry-standard foundation for breath alcohol testing on the instruments tracks actually use. Confirm any track-specific requirements with your commission.
